Black screen + blue screen.

Hi guys, hoping someone can help me here, I'm rather stuck.

A week or so ago, I had a black screen for 1-2 seconds, then screen came back on, and a message popped up (I didn't catch all of it so could have said something different.) saying that something happened and Nvidia regenerated the graphics (or something like that, sorry about the vagueness!) and today, I was attempting to turn ShadowPlay on and suddenly PC went off and I had a blue screen error.

Looked in Event Viewer/Windows Logs/System and saw this.

The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was: 0x00000116 (0xfffffa80072b9010, 0xfffff8800f2334ac, 0x0000000000000000, 0x0000000000000002). A dump was saved in: C:\Windows\MEMORY.DMP. Report Id: 112914-4836-01.

Not had this before and only happened since I had my new 970 so whether that's related I'm not sure?

Oh, I recognise that memory location. Thats a video driver crash. You should be able to get a little more info from the memory dump if you still have it but I'd definitely recommend updating your drivers as soon as a new version becomes available.

Say whattt?? Nvidia drivers crashing and messing up? Causing black screen then blue screen crash? Nope can't be that Nvidia drivers, they're meant to be really good!

Yea you'll need to look at the dump mate! But 0x116 is definitely graphics related as im guessing you know?

it sounds like the Timeout Detection and Recovery (TDR) part of the OS tried to recover from a driver error but something went wrong causing the blue screen and a restart. This is not abnormal and has happened in the past.

Are you running the latest drivers? Also im like 99% sure it's not this, but what's your temps like?

I've still got the memory dump but don't know how to read it. I'll wait for new drivers and will update those as soon as they're available.

Temps wise, usually around 30 when not in game and 50 when in game.

Ddu then clean driver install, if that doesn't help try updating the motherboard bios
