Just wanting to post this crashing experience I been having for couple weeks now "It might be fixed now" but before I tell you how i fixed it. I want to share my issue with OCUK for anyone that might also have the same issue happen and this might help them fix their issue.
While playing Forza 3 my game would random crash with driver stopped responding no GPU overclock was active, but i did have my 8700k OC to 4.8. So I go ahead and remove the OC and my issue seemed to go away, couple day pass no crash and then it reappears again. "Google about" noticed other people having crashing issues so i thought the game was the issue, because I wasn't crashing in any other game but I also wasn't putting much time into other games.

I bought Subnautica 20 mins into this game my display on both monitors would black screen with my GPU 100% :( with @TonyTurbo78 help I ran Firestrike extreme for over 2 hours no issue lol Wasn't crashing in other games, PUBG, BF1 too name couple. Started playing some Witcher 3 very demanding game all was fine for about 40mins then it happened again. I pull out all PCIe cables and GPU and reset, now I thinking its the PSU. Some googling I find out that a user on Youtube comments section was having this same issue and he had bought PCIe cable extensions!" I also have extensions on my GPU so I unplgged them and used the cable directly into the PSU/GPU and tonight I was able to play Subnautica for over two hours first time I been able to play for this long.

Because how random this crash has been I will still need to play more hours to know for 100% sure it's fixed. :D

tldr
PSU cable extensions was the issue.

I had a faulty 24 pin cable extension many years ago which lead to random crashing in games. I basically dismantled my system, reblocked gpus and reinstalled windows. I only sourced the issue when I bought a Dr Power 2 PSU Tester and it flagged up the faulty cable extension.

Anyway I am glad you found the issue and got it sorted.

What GPU was this with ?

I have been having the same issue with my rx480 that I have RMAd

PSU extensions have caused me a similar issue before as well. They look nice, but i don't use them anymore.

:/ As I mentioned I have been having the same issue with my rx480 which I have RMAd.

After noticing your post I did some more googling and it seems to be a really common issue.

I don't have a cable extension, but was getting the same issue on 3 different PCs I tested the card on.

Seeing has you tested on 3 PCs I would 100% say you issue was the GPU. Hopefully mine is completely fixed now! Will be able to game more over the weekend.

good news mate..I dont want to see you come back in this thread and tell us the problem wasn't the extension cables and you have the black screens back again :p

:D Ye I will keep my fingers crossed for you, after the nightmare I have had I wouldn't wish it on anyone, especially the cost I am looking at paying to replace it.

I had a similar issue a few years ago, random crashes to desktop with driver stopped responding.

Turned out to be a sneaky bit of mining malware which randomly hit the card for 100% before crashing.

Something else to consider at a time like this.
