Hello,

Ok, the problem; (i'm using Vista home premium 32.)

Initial boot up is fine, get past the welcome screen and to the log in screen. Put my password in and it starts to load windows.

Well, it tries to load windows.

All i get is a black screen with the white cursor.

I have read that it is a common problem and that there is a fix. The problem being that windows isn't loading up explorer.exe when it should.

In order to go thru with the fix i need to manually start explorer.exe from task manager.

After reading about this, the common solution is to ctrl Alt Del and select task manager, then load up explorer.exe that way.

Unfortunately this wont work for me, it ignores my ctrl alt del request.

This is why i'm asking for your help! I need to find a way to get into windows so i can back up my data and wipe/reinstall the mofo.

Any idea's?

List of things i have tried;

System restore - didn't work.
Memory & full system diagnostics - nothing wrong with the hardware.
Loading Ubuntu - wouldn't let me, said i had no display?

Please help.

I have also posted this in The OS thread but i dont think enough people look at it to get a fast response. This really is urgent as i have to take my laptop away this afternoon for a couple of days and i need it up and running asap.

Thanks,

Gil.
