Hi guys, as the title says I am having a bit of a problem.

When I turn my pc on, the fans work, I get the ASUS splash screen, but then the monitor goes blank and nothing happens. I then hold the power switch down to turn it off, and then turn it on again and the pc loads up just fine. There hasn't been any other issues other than this one.

Has anyone got any suggestions as to what this could be?

Here's my spec:

Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-7700K CPU @ 4.20GHz (8 CPUs), ~4.2GHz
Memory: 16384MB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080
MOBO: ASUS Maximus IX Formula
Running two SSD's and one mechanical HDD.

Would love any help.

Are you connected via DP cable?

If you are it's a common problem with the 10 series - i have the same issue with the GTX 1070 using a DP cable.

If i use an HDMI cable the problem disappears - but have persisted with the DP as my systems is on nearly 24/7 plus have 2/3 monitors so need to use DP.

If you find that you get a no signal message after a few boot attempts - try unplugging your monitor for 10 minutes (from the wall) and it should find it again when reattached to the PC and re-booted.

Also disable 'ultra fast boot' features as this can help sometimes.

Thanks Plec. I am indeed using DP cables as I am in the same boat as you with the multiple monitors. I shall follow your advice and hopefully it will get it sorted. It's weird how it suddenly just started to happen. :S

I found having at least my second monitor 'on' during the boot process (connected with an HDMI cable) reduced the amount of incidents. Even if I wasn't going to use it - (i.e. I turned it off after boot) - the bios splash would use this screen but it would eventually boot onto the main screen via DP.

Agreed, it is odd...
