Really annoying me now, I just brought an 290 working fine then alsudden I over clocked slighty and I keep gettin black screen and keep resetin my PC! There's nothing I can do I try restoring but I can't cause it will just go black screen within 2-3 mins of loading the computer! What do I do???

You using MSI Afterburner for overclocking?

If you are, I suspect that you have the MSI AB to start with Windows, and apply overclock as soon as it is launched.

The overclock on the memory you have saved on the profile is unstable, so you have to try to open MSI AB as soon as you reach the desktop and press "reset" before the black screen kicks in.

Have you tried using the BIOS switch on your graphics card to change to the alternative profile.

What about booting into safemode and removing the overclock that way?

Well the BIOS switch is on the top of the card towards the I/O plate(the end with the connectors) flip that and it'll change from either uber to normal or vice versa, that'll reset the overclocks.

Otherwise, start PC, mash whatever appropriate button for BIOS(Del, F8, F2 are the usual culprites) select boot into safe mode, change the overclock in Catalyst there once you're into windows.

EDIT: easiest thing to do would be to use your onboard graphics if you've got any, and load into windows normally.

To get into safe mode press F8 before the windows logo appears, then choose safe mode with networking, you might be able to get into the catalyst control center that way and remove the overclock.

Possibly less likely but R9 290 has a physical switch on the card which can be used to change between two separate BIOS. If you are having trouble with one it might help to turn the PC off and flick the switch to the alternate position.
