Hi everyone,
Had a problem with my PC for as long as it's been built now (couple of years), and the problem seemed to disappear for a long time, but recently it's doing it a lot, almost every time I game. I've got a 7970 with an accelero Xtreme cooler on it.
Basically, when in the middle of a game (sometimes just when browsing the web or the PC being idle and I'm not there), the screen will go black, audio will loop and stutter in the headphones, fans on the GPU will go loud and the only way to stop it is to push the reset button or long press the power button. The issue happened every now and then when I first built the PC, but it seemed to go away for a long time when someone suggested I turn off hardware acceleration in flash, but it's back and I can't even game for more than a few minutes before it black screens.
The other thing I've tried is cleaning it out with compressed air, setting the minimum clocks on the GPU to a higher setting (saw that suggestion whilst googling around) and disabling the HW acceleration of flash again. The card isn't overheating at all when it does it either. Really odd problem.
If anyone could suggest anything that I might be able to try to try and fix the problem, it would be most appreciated. I assume it's a GPU problem, but I suppose it could be something else.

Edit: Just to add something else strange. It was doing this every time I even started a game a few weeks ago, so to test the GPU I did a stress test in Kombuster to see if it black screened on me there...nothing, not a problem at all, for 2 hours! That pretty much stumped me to be honest with you.

. The main problem is not being able to re-create the crash. It appears randomly most times. So annoying
