Developer Motion Blur has announced Black State, a visually stunning new third-person action-adventure for PC that, if this gorgeous announcement trailer is accurate, mixes the espionage action of Metal Gear Solid with the reality-bending portal tech of Portal. It's powered by Unreal Engine 5.

The takeaway fro this is that these devs are a small tea, ex CGI pros and they adopted a seemingly custom ray tracing solution. The game shown was developed on Ampere hardware so a 4090 runs it at 120fps max everything at 4K with only DLSS, no frame gen. This looks to be supremely well optimised as a result.

Oh and the best bit, PC ONLY. We may be in for a treat here with the best looking best performing PC game in a long time.

And it's being developed on Ampere hardware so you know it's gonna be super optimised. Also only on PC.

I have a feeling this game will really put a shoe in the mouths of many devs and highlight there is NO excuse for poor optimisation when graphics look this good and run so well.

Why is the guy so stiff the animations need some work lol

That's exactly what I thought, the gameplay looks good but the guys face looks lifeless and just wrong especially while hiding behind objects.

I'm seeing nothing good other than the visuals. Just a very simplistic looking cover shooter.

Not really sure what part of work in progress people don't understand/. This is a game not coming out until well into 2025 at the earliest.

DF showcase the demo they saw of the game, seems the devs are extremely pro-optimisation and Alex says it was running amazing even on RTX 30 series. Just DLSS Quality at 4K was running at nearly 100fps on current hardware for example. They are not using Lumen or Nanite, they are using hardware RT and custom tech.
