blackberry email issue

Needs some kind of traffic light system to show BBM, BES, BIS and Browsing. At least (some) of the networks kept people updated regarding the outage, more than can be said for RIM. I doubt RIM will pull this stunt twice though.

I think this will be the final nail in RIM :(

Yep, today has been horrid. (In the USA) We have a percentage of our big cats on BB's still. Actually all are really upset, as they are supposed to be all meeting at a big conference. Most are now talking about switching over to the iPhone..

I can see huge losses for RIM over this.

RIM just had a press conference call regarding the outage and it was unbelievably bad...no real answers, nothing that we dont know lol.

What a complete and utter **** up by RIM...hate to say it but this looks to be the beginning of the end of RIM....how they can get back from this is beyond me....just terrible terrible showing from RIM :(.

Well I was upgrading via orange to the 9900 from the 8900 I have had for the last 23 months yesterday, but after all this polava, I do not know what to do.

I do not wish to take on a new BB9900 for 24 months if there is going to be any long term problems.

There wont, of course there will always be some downtime but come on lets not get this twisted...this is the worst downtime ive ever seen or heard of since i been using BB's...and lets not forget nothing is 100% reliable EVER.

But its pretty shoddy showing on RIMs behalf tbh.

I agree with spawn here, given the size of RIM it really is a joke they have been down for this long. If it was for say 3 to 4 hours I would forgive them, but its been down for days now.

Also remember that RIM move over 20 petabytes, thats 2048tb of data PER DAY through their data centres/servers...so with that amount of data being passed thru daily, theres bound to be some problems along the way ie downtime etc.

Freaking crazy amount if data being passed through RIM servers

It's big but there are a lot bigger fishes in the market who do a lot more (akami, Amazon WS). If you include Inter-data centre then probably thousands of companies will pull more.

This isn't the end of RIM by a mile but this was a large mistake that will take time to heal.

just had a few BES messages flow through from yesterday at 7:10am this morning - then tried a test message to myself - wouldnt work :(
