Blackberry Folder Rules

We have a user who has set up rules for certain emails to be directed into certain folders. e.g. all @Smith go to a smith folder. He has this setup in Outlook 2007 and on his Blackberry.

When receiving an @Smith email it works in Outlook but on the Blackberry the email is lost and does not go to either the inbox or the correct folder.

However, when an alert is set for @Smith, the email comes through on the Blackberry fine into the correct folder. Users dont want to have alerts for every single folder though, just the important ones

I have tried re-sending service books from BES and re-running the enterprise activation. No joy

Using the following -

BES 5
BlackBerry 8310
Outlook 2007

I have jsut come accross this question -

seem to be having this problem with my Blackberry and I'm not sure if it's a limitation of Blackberry or not. I have some rules set up in Outlook to automatically move incoming email into specified folders. On the Blackberry, I'm not able to see these emails that have been moved by the rule. The option for 'Hide Filed Messages' is set to 'No'. When I go into Options>View Folder and select any of the folders, it just shows "no messages". However, if I manually move another email into this folder and then reconcile the BB, that email shows up. I wanted to make sure I'm not missing something here...I checked every other possible setting and have come up empty handed. It just seems to be something with using Rules in Outlook. Has anyone else experienced this? TIA

Hi

I have just resolved this issue for one of my users, we are running the Blackberries through a BES though so not sure if this helps?

Basically, if you go to the BES, right click the user, you shoudl get a menu with one of the options being "Choose Folders for Redirection"

By default the option is set to "Redirect Inbox Only" If you select the option "Redirect the following folders" you will get a Folder Tree where you can expand you Inbox folder structure and select all the e-mail folders you wish re-direct.

I think that this happens because normally your e-mails come to your inbox first, so even if you subsequently manually move them the Blackberry has "seen" the message and therefore is able to move it around. When you have this type of rule set up the message is not sent to the inbox, its redirected by exchange to the folder requested in the rule.

If you are running your device through a PC installed Blackberry Manager software I believe that the same options exist there.

Hope that helps!

On BEs 5 you go to manage user > search > click user name > edit user > default configuration > email > selected folders > click the tree.

I see all the users tree structure on his BB here with all folders selected (so they re-direct) How do I make messages come through to his bb in these folders?

Nice - thanks, we also have this issue but to get around it we setup a auto forward in exchange to the blackberry address (clunky I know). We dont have BES though.
