Blackberry Pearl / Gmail

Hi Guys

I got this phone today, quite impressed with it, finally got a phone that picks up my emails etc and all works fine. Texting is a nightmare, trying to get used to it.

Only problem is when I recieve my Gmails, they stay unread on the actual gmail.google.com website. I checked the POP/forward settings on there and its suppose to archive read messages?

Any ideas who have a similar setup?

Try setting it up as IMAP on the blackberry admin site if possible.

I'm on the Blackberry site now, can't see any option to do so?

Go into your gmail settings and make sure its set to IMAP. Also i dont think it will show up as read on your gmail inbox...well as far as i know i dont think its possible as the synch is really only one way ie from the BB to gmail and not the other way round...for instance if i get an email on my gmail inbox and delete it..my BB wont reflect the change so have to actually delete it from my BB as well...same with reading as well. But if i get an email on my BB and delete it from my BB then it reflects on my gmail inbox...but if i read the email on my BB it wont reflect on my gmail inbox...not really an issue for me tbh.

Have you been over to www.crackberry.com??. If anything the guys in there might be able to help you out.

crackberry is a great site... I'll double check whether it should, I'm pretty sure when I had my BB it synced stuff ok, maybe I'm dreaming...

Well its never worked for me and i have mine set to IMAP....unless its supposed to but ive never seen it work.

Just spoke ot my friend who works on Blackberry support and he says it's supposed to work on IMAP.

Hmmm ill have to have a look and see why its not working for me..if not ill have to ask over at crackberry and see what they say...but even so its not a big issue for me as i tend to read and delete my messages on my BB if needed.

Just had a look in my gmail settings and it does say in there that it isnt officially supported...anyways i had both pop and imap enabled...disabled pop so will see if it works.

Yoou could try setting ip up manually as IMAP, It's been a while since I've been on the blackberry site but even with a gmail you should be able to manually put the settings in.
