BlackBerry PlayBook users?

really? my impression was this £250 price drop was just until end of december. Unless it's just a marketing ploy to make people by now.

Arent they being discounted heavily in US at the moment?

It's somewhat of a dark horse, out of all the tablets I own or tried, it seems the fastest in web browsing and multi tasking. Probably a testimony to QNX more than anything

Yep massive discounts in the US (& Canada iirc)

Playbook is a lovely tablet, just the right size, built like a tank, and excellent at multitasking, amongst lots of other cool things :)

Yeah they can be had in places like Radio Shack for $199, that said apparently they aren't selling very well even at that price and places like Best Buy are cancelling orders for them. At that price though I'd probably rather go for a Kindle Fire.

Thats not quite true, they may not have sold well at full retail (lack of decent marketing) but they have sold out almost everywhere in the US since the sale, even RIM on their website have put up a warning that delivery is more likely to be 7 days and not the usual 2 as they have a huge amount of orders to process, last time I looked no one knew why Best Buy have pulled their sales? stock issues?

Yeah fair point, much like the Touchpad though I can't see demand keeping up when the price goes back up, the stock issues thing seems to be a balls-up by the retailers rather than RIM to be fair though.

It strikes me as somewhat ridiculous though that the 'update' that brings complicated apps such as er, e-mail, calendars etc is delayed until February - I suspect bad PR from stuff like that isn't going to help the Playbook's cause against stiff competition like the KF etc.

I got mine in the end,

BlackBerry PlayBook Rapid Charging Stand
BlackBerry PlayBook - Tablet - 32 GB - 7" TFT
BLACKBERRY PLAYBOOK SCREEN PROTECTOR / GUARD

£153 had it for a week loving it, lol no one wants to the laptop anymore :D

I bought one for 250 quid. It was absolutely awful compared to my original iPad. Took it back and got an iPad 2. I guess it's good for the price but the interface is choppy, the scrolling on the web browser is crap, websites don't load properly, it's just not a nice tablet to use and there are barely any apps for it. The apps that do exist are rubbish. All my opinion of course, it might be what you're looking for but I see it more as something that a business could use. Perhaps they should rename it to workbook instead of playbook.

Ill take a PB over an ipad any day for browsing, no chopiness at all and no problems sliding my finger down a screen. The apps i agree 100% are gash on the PB but i knew that and didt care i dont have to see how loud my last burp etc:D

lol 'workbook' well i managed to get one for £200, not so bad. Plus it will compliment my blackberry phone nicely. Im not to bothered about apps really. Just a device that will come in handy for journeys, etc.

Still enjoying mine, bought the 64GB version about a month back, not bad for £320, was close to getting rid of it but the new update to the OS 2.0 Dev beta is outstanding and has really improved the performance, usability and stability of the tablet, theres a few things missing I'd like to see (A2DP and auto-correct) but other than that its perfect for me!

One thing I will say is the screen was pretty good. Although its only 7", the res and colours were nice and it handled hi def pretty well. The music player was nice too, although it was a shame there's no podcast app for some reason here in the uk.

I heard android market is coming to it as well and a complete revamp of the os early next year so it's gonna get a lot better in terms of usability and app availability.

Shame it wasn't the right tablet for me but I'm glad you're all happy with yours and at that price, what a bargain.

Got my eye on a 16GB version for between £120 and £140, want one as a browsing and multimedia device. I figure now that it's been rooted with Dingleberry, that its only a matter of time before Android is put on the thing, and for the money you then have an Android tablet that is miles and away above anything else in terms of quality for the money.

you can get the Android app before is was rooted mate ;)

The price of its dropped again to £169, I cant see it going back up until 2.0 hits now. I was mega tempted to get one today. But with Fire next month and most likely a new iPad in march I'm trying to be good with my money.

7" just seems good for a ereader on the bus, I wouldnt want to take a 10" onto the bus for that job.
