BlackBerry PlayBook users?

only just got my playbook and lovin it so far, even on the os1.08. really looking forward to os2 since i'm at work all night i hope i can download it in the early hours (doubtful i know).

OS 2.0 is out ! updating mine now !

just go to Settings > Software Updates > Check for Updates and you should find PlayBook OS 2.0

i thought i'd do mine via pc this time because the last time i did it via the playbook itself it took ages. Pc aint any faster probably because the RIM servers are taking a hammering.

Phewwww finally OS 2.0 is out...havent had a chance to update it as im at work so will have to wait till i get home but this has been a long time coming.

So far so good with the update, mail app is nice to use and very clean, well structured. Thank God we now have predictive text and it's looking really good.

Just finished downloading the OS 2 update...much needed update and love the auto correct with predicative typing...makes life much more easier typing out stuff.

Im looking at a playbook, it seems that they are the better of the sub £300 tablets with great hardware that is let down by the software.

For anyone that as OS 2.0 may I ask;
1) How is the book reader? I have a lot of a4 pdfs that I print and would love to have on a tablet.
2) How well does it work with Google Apps and/or Office 365 - I find my 3gs works very well with email, calender and contacts sync.

Anyone else finding all their contacts from all accounts lumped into one big mass without an option to filter or sync only with existing contacts?

Downloaded 2.0. How do i gt Android apps to work? Where do i find them?

Be patient...theres a huge backlog of applications from developers that RIM is currently working through so may be a little while before you see Android apps on the playbook. But they will be available in app world when they are ready.

plus from what i've read RIM will do a little screening of the apps so we dont end up with thousands upon thousands of totally useless apps of poor quality.

So after using 2.0 for a while now its clearly a really solid update. For me the star of the show is the Messaging app - it really is better than anything else I have experienced on other tablets.

The Calender app is great, mine is linked to my corporate exchange and it pulls the facebook and linkedin profiles of everyone I'm meeting that day, a really nice touch.

Apparently video calling has improved but I didn't really use this before. May give it a go with my brother.

Predictive text is obviously a real bonus, but with the ability to use my Torch keyboard via bridge, I'm not sure how much i'll be using the on screen keyboard for anything larger than web input.

The one thing that is obviously missing is dedicated BBM. It really is disappointing to think they have been working on this since they started to develop the Playbook, and its still not ready. I'll guess it will launch with the first round of 'BB10' sometime in Q3/4

Overall very impressed with the update, it starts to show the Playbooks true potential. Would have loved to see how if would have fared if it launched with some of these features.

Purely in terms of web browsing does the Playbook compare well against the iPad1?

The reason I ask is that I have just sold my iPad1. I would have sold it ages ago but the wife liked it for the always on web access. So the lack of apps I can deal with but I would like it to be a good web browser and media player.

I mean for £170 surely the BB PB has got to be a good deal? £400 or something when released!!!

Anyone know who the hell I Unset the file sharing password when you have forogtten the password in the first place?

I'm tempted to get one for media whilst commuting, so it will be almost solely for comics and videos, with some browsing at home possibly.

With the 2.0 update, how will Android apps become available? No Android Market obviously, so I want to know if the 2 important apps I need (Perfect Viewer and MoboPlayer) are likely to be available at some point.

I believe its still up to the App developers to change a few lines to make them compatible, so you could maybe try their websites or something if they have any plans?

Crap, found a thread with a list of working/not working apps, and both are in the not working section :(

Looks like it's back to umming and ahhhing about an Ainol...
