Blackfish, BB4. 9pm (Just started!)

I watched this last night. Very interesting documentary as most of these Storyville's are.

Did SeaWorld get out of this unscathed? Hard to believe they're not guilty of at least a little bit of negligence.

Hopefully it won't be long before places like this go out of business. I can't see anyone who watches this visiting SeaWorld anytime soon. I certainly won't.

Well the only thing I know is that since this movie, documentary - I have seen a lot of negative publicity toward seaworld - like macys thanksgiving parade in newyork and people 'dissing' on seaworlds float. ie joan jett was supposed to be on the float but then after pressure she pulled out.
as one example ...

I thought the film was excellent also - sadest part was when they stole the whales out of the ocean or took them away from their mothers - pretty heart wrenching.

But to be honest - we look at sea world and consider them bad and evil - but we just have to look around and the whole world is doing this to the animal population.

From deforestation to farmed food, to zoos etc ... I keep telling my wife - soon there will be no wild animals left only farmed animals ... and we can blame only one animal for this.

I missed the start, flicked onto it while it was showing some incidents of the Orcas attacking each other, including a fatal attack, found it pretty horrific so had to switch it over.

Few years back I went to the aquarium in Vancouver, which is supposedly one of the better ones, all I can remember is this beautiful dolphin swimming around in a constant loop in its pool, which wasn't even as big as an Olympic sized swimming pool, and feeling incredibly sad for it.

I certainly won't be visiting SeaWorld at any point in my lifetime.

Very poweful film that sadly was hidden away on BBC4 on a Thursday night and will be seen by very few.

People will look back at us in the future and wonder how we could have been so barbaric. If someone from the future is reading this....I apologise.

Watched it.

What was with the woman who couldn't help smiling all the time?! Was weird, her facial expressions were at complete odds to what she was saying.

I do like a good documentary and this was pretty hard going in places. Couldn't believe how calm the last guy stayed, almost certainly saved his life.

My GF was really anti the trainers and I can kinda see her point, but I do think that a lot of them probably did think that they were in some way helping to improve the life of a captive animal. But at the same time, how anyone could work so closely to these animals and be accepting of their environment, is hard to believe.

At the very least I hope this documentary makes people think about the role they play in the life of these animals. Every person who pays to go somewhere like this, is providing a reason for the companies to continue doing it.

That was very odd, especially as she was recounting the story of how someone dies and her sister was blubbing her eyes out beside her.

One of those strange things I guess when people are psychologically trained to smile when on camera. Maybe she works in media relations or customer facing.

Was really scary watching that male trainer getting pulled down multiple times. Damn he kept his cool. Very lucky to be alive!
