I've noticed this odd issue.
Hard to show it, doesn't really come up in screenshots so I assume its a monitor thing?

Hard to get a pic of it but it shows a bit on this pic if you look at the horse.

Reminds me of being on 16bit colour's.. Except i'm not. Only noticeable on black areas, everything else appears fine!

Happens on at least two games so far, but not noticeable out of games.
Using a BenQ XL2024T

Thanks

You mean the XL2420T? That would be the Black eQualizer. What preset mode/settings are you using?

IIRC using standard settings Black Equalizer is still on but hard set to 5.

Its very easy to make the XL2420T look like that unfortunatly though also fairly easy to fix with a bit of tweaking.

What would you advise then?

It's good to know its not just me or a fault though! But i'd like to have a good picture without the blacks being like that. Its distracting!

The Black EQ essentially modifies specific parts of the gamma curve (the very dark colours slightly lighter than black) so that they appear brighter than they should. Applying an ICC profile could help with this particular issue - I'm sure some users here could share one and you could also try TFT Central's one. You may have to make some further adjustments to the settings so things look right on yours after applying it but hopefully it will help to overcome the Black EQ's influence on the gamma curve.

Didn't seem to improve with a different ICC profile :(.
So other monitors don't have it at all? If I turn it off on other profiles its insanely dark!

Looks pretty awful!

Thanks for your help

Just to discount something - if your using an nVidia card which from your sig looks likely - go to the nVidia control panel and make sure that under Adjust Desktop Color Settings the Digital Color Format option is set to RGB and not YCbCr444 or similiar. (Don't change this option as its a bit buggy and can sometimes get stuck on the wrong one unless you reinstall the drivers).

I've got the gamma a bit below 1.00 in Nvidia's colour settings. The photo makes it look a tiny bit brighter/worse than it is but still.

I removed a skyrim mod that made the nights darker and it stopped it to a certain extent but that's just because its no longer dark at nights now.. So not much black!

I don't have an option for that.. Should I? I looked it up in google and my 'Adjust Desktop Color Settings' page is the same except for lacking the drop down to change the color format.

It will depend on what your monitor configuration and type of connector your using if it shows or not. (Which connection are you using and if display port what length is the cable roughly?).

See if using standard picture mode but changing brightness: 24, contrast 50, sharpness 5, gamma 4, color temperature user mode 100,100,100 still results in the same issue. (With Gamma 1.0 and no digital vibrancy, etc. setting on in the nVidia control panel).

It's the Gamma curve mixed with monitor settings and the TN panel.

Fiddle till you are happier but just be prepared for lower IQ compared to an IPS panel.
