Hey all,

I finished crysis not long ago, started playing it again on hard as lost my saves. Want some more games to play, ive got bioshock, cod4, stalker etc and played some of them but getting bored.

Was wondering if anyone has played blacksite area 51 and if it is any good??

Cheers

Alex

I'd say yes, you would be wasting your money. Why?

Well, I bought blacksite. I'm an FPS whore, and I thought it looked okay despite the negative reviews. Anyway, it's one of those games which is full of bugs on release and requires patching. No problem, right? WRONG! The patches are *only* available for the US version of the game. The european game is completely incompatible with the patches, and will not be supported.

I'm not one to condone piracy, but that's the only way you'll get a working copy of the game. It makes me mad to think that I paid good money for this game, only to have a vastly inferior product to someone that just ripped it off. I played the game for about 20mins then gave up, frustrated with the bugs.

quite possibly.

you should read Harvey Smith slating it on Eurogamer and he was lead designer on the game

I got this game few weeks ago. I ungot it after about 30 minutes. never again.

TimeShift is good, if you can pick it up nice and cheap. Looks good, plays well and no bugs that I've encounted. It's not the next evolution in PC gaming, but a good solid title non the less.

Blacksite is nowhere near as bad as some people think.

Game plays best with a 360 gamepad as it was designed primarily as a console title. Been playing it on my 40" HDTV with the wireless gamepad and it looks pretty good to me, undemanding but easy to play.

Average FPS really with a few nice looking levels and some very cutting edge political statements on the Iraq war. Gfx are a lot better than Gears Of War and it uses the same Unreal3 engine with a much nicer more colourful design.

15GB HD install on 2 DVD's as the textures are high res and takes around 45mins to do this.

If you enjoy mindless FPS then this game delivers on that and is also reasonably long. As you can pick it up for around £12 online now well worth it.

Seconded. I didn't think it was that bad. I've played worse.

There was a bit of jerking like in stalker but not too much. As
AWPC said if you like mindless FPS with a run and gun attitude this is OK.

how about Frontlines, I thought that looked quite good

When i said i'd played worse this is what i was thinking of, a terrible game thats absolutely full to the brim with the Noob Tube brigade.

Are you sure?

When I was googling to find patches for my game I found several angry responses to a statement from the publishers that the EU game would not be compatible with the patches and that there were no plans to make it so. No-one ever mentioned that the patches were pre-installed.
