i think 3-slot is a hard stop for nvidia, beyond that we are looking at a liquid cooled FE

As it should be. The current cooler already invalidates your next PCI-E slot on most motherboards, and I've not once noticed this 4090FE cooler even remotely struggle to cool the card, even with 2 of them next to one another! Probably could have got away with something more like the 3090FE size tbh.

Not going to watch the video but that thumbnail image looks like a really bad photoshop.

hmmm.. laptop chips are being prepared for a concurrent release, never happened before, wont that put a strain on their ability to supply discrete GPUs in Q1?

I doubt it, they probably don’t expect to sell many desktop 5080s if the price is $1200 again and rumoured specs are correct.

wouldnt they? they are capacity constrained, so they would rather prefer to maximize profit margins.. unless the laptop chips are on a different process
The point I was making is they will have plenty of chips for laptops as they won't expect many sales of the desktop 80 given its spec, 4080 was one of the worse selling Nvidia GPUs in history.

So that's why they're not being announced until January?

No I don't think so, some say the delay was caused by Nvidia cutting down the consumer die's so small they simply got lost in the manufacturing process

yeah they were finding it difficult to locate the transisitors as well because they are so small.. 4 nanometers of gate length, the welders in taiwan were complaining about how difficult it has become to weld them on a chip

I assume the 5000 series will be PCIE 5.0?

I have a Z690i which supports PCIE 5.0 but my Cooler Master NR200P MAX case has a riser cable which is only PCIE 4.0

Are there any decent PCIE 5.0 riser cables available yet? I've read mixed reviews on the LINKUP - AVA5
