NVIDIA 5000 SERIES

This doesn't actually look too bad, though we might just have been conditioned to expect the unacceptable by the 4000-series launch. The 5090's price increase over the 4090 is at the lower end of what I was expecting, given inflation and Nvidia's naked opportunism.

My worry - compared to the 4000-series launch, I can see this one turning into a scalper's paradise.

5090 has gone up by 400, that's quite a big increase. The rest of the stack looks not too bad. Be interesting to see what third party cards actually cost from retailers. I'll be happy with the 5070 Ti if I can find one under £800.

I would have liked to see more memory on the 5080

Should have had 20/24GB.

It’s a very sneaky move by Nvidia. They know that if anyone wants more ram they now have no choice but to pay DOUBLE for the next card in the stack.

They’ve always tried to push people in to the next product up, but this is probably the most blatant example.

5070 and 5070TI are nicely priced imo and will make great upgrades for people running 3070/3080 level cards
5080 when compared to 4080 and 4080 Super is also priced pretty nicely at a level a lot will likely be willing to stretch to.

5090 - Typical halo card, priced for those who want the top and will pay for it pretty much regardless of price

Hmm maybe the best ‘like for like’ comparison we have is the charts for Plague Tale Requiem as that only supports DLSS3, so no fancy advantages for the 50 series cards above the 40 series.

From eyeballing those charts it suggests that the 5090 gives around 30% more raw performance than the 4090.

On the ongoing fake frames discussion, as long as it looks good and doesn’t feel awkward then I don’t see a problem personally.

They may come out with the Ti/Super models in a year or so which would hopefully use the 3GB stacks of GDDR7, so there should eventually be something in between. It is lame that 16GB isn't the minimum though.

Have you seen OCUK, the 4090 has been around that the entire time and selling.

The reality is we voted with our wallets and won, we got the prices we as consumers wanted and deserve.

4090 kept selling above 2000 so Nvidia priced it that way.

The 4080 was overpriced at 1200 failed to sell well, the 4080 super was released at 999 and sold really well so they priced it at that.

Overall we voted with our wallets and got what we wanted.

At least some other GPU's get to use most features of the up and coming DLSS 4.x..........

Not sure how you think a card with 8960 cuda cores and a 2475 boost clock is going to be anywhere near a card with 16384 cuda and a boost of 2520 in raster.

You are right, maybe not quite 4090 level, but it's not going to be too far off, based on their slides and the Far Cry 6 benchmark. Maybe more like the 4080 super though perhaps.

That slide shows maybe around 25-30% uplift without dlss. Which possibly puts it between the 4080 super and 4090 (but closer to the 4080 super).

we really need the raw data without FG, it's just a last resort to get some games running smooth, typically when they are using PT

with the 4090 I only really used it for 2 games (but haven't played alan wake 2 yet). Otherwise getting good frames without it always felt better
