I was thinking yesterday that with the 5090 being rumoured at 32GB/512bit it makes absolutely no sense for the 5080 to be 16/256.

Maybe they really are brazen enough to try the "4080 12GB" naming again, but there has to be a 384bit card in the pipeline (and still room for a 20GB/320bit in there later).

Also, for parity with the 4xxx series, a 5070 with less than 16GB would be laughable!

... also if they get around to using the incoming 3GB density chips, then we're looking at 48/512, 36/384, 24/256, 18/192 etc. (the pessimist in me says we're looking at future e.g. 15/160, 12/128 :P )

Although I expect it'll be a while before they start using the 3GB densities as they'll be better suited (/better margin) for professional/datacentre cards.

So uhhh yeah, the 5090 is going to be over £2k at this rate given they already have the 24GB 5080 in the roadmap of release lol. I fully expect that model to be around £1500 or maybe even 4090 price if it's specced to match or slightly beat the 4090, since on paper the 16GB 5080 will be below the 4090.
