Blade Runner (1997)

Currently having a stop/start play through of it due to me always forgetting where I've put my save games, and then having to get it to work again after reinstalling windows on a new rig. Very tempted to buy it on GoG for the cloud saves, but I've had it since release in physical form and reluctant to buy it again - anyone know who gets the money from sales?

Its a great game uses voxels I think. I still have my original from 1997 on 4 CD's LOL Westwood back in those days were really a top developer on PC :D;)

Tricky one. Loved it at the time but after not getting much luck with Tron 2.0 running, which is another game from yesteryear, not sure about this either. Plus I'm not sure how the game holds up after all this time. Might be one to leave in the neurons for happy memories.

Hmm so what, does that mean its crap as he may be knowledgeable to this game and it is GB not gb so he would seem to know more than you. ;)

The graphics were amazing for the time so it would not surprise me, and what size would you say a VCR tape (PAL SD) ripped to a HDD would be, it would be massive.

What even?

Did you have anything constructive to add to this topic or just came in to be a ****?

LOL, anyway:

A SD video rip size depends on which container you package the file in, people who get large SD video file sizes are doing it wrong, for example a single layer DVD is only 4.7GB and can hold around the same as a 90min VHS tape.

A VHS backup system could reportedly store 4gb of data on a standard VHS issue tape.

The largest HDD size in 1997 was 16GB and basically unattainable (from memory, yes some of us are of the age who had PCs at that time), the standard HDD size was something between 1 and 4GB IIRC.

With the above in mind backing up and managing the texture assets the random YouTube comment alludes to would be extremely challenging and given the speed of PCs and the resolutions of the day somewhat pointless.

Happy to be shown otherwise, so look forward to you digging up some proper evidence for the claim.

You still have not added anything to topic of this game in any of your posts, I only posted it as a bit of trivia after I went to look at the game on YT.

I am probably older than you and after Commodores got a PC in 2001 and I tried to extract a damaged 700MB (1CD) 480p .divx/xvid to my HDD (60GB inc Windows and programs,) and I ran out of space.

Ughhh that makes me feel very old...

My daughter was 2 3 when it released... she is now 25...
Flippin heck, now I feel old. Still got the BR game box somewhere. It was a voxel engine powering the game and yes Westwood were in their absolute prime. I still remember being wowed in the opening segment of the game where you see the night flyby of a police car past some huge skyscrapers with advertising on - to me it was just gamechanging tech.

I bought it too when it was first released and I remember looking at the box art thinking wow! I was absolutely stunned when I first saw it. But I can't remember playing it lots for some reason.

Love this game, I still have my original as well.. :D One of the things I loved most was the intro and the music directly from the movie. Such a great start! I miss some of the FMV loaded games from the past. I was a real big fan of Tex Murphy Adventures, Ripper, Gabriel Knight etc.. Loved the terrible acting and the mind bending puzzles.. :D
