Blame on both sides

I have this internal conflict with it all and I don't know exactly how to get around it,

One side of me thinks nazis/kkk/scum - people who openly want to kill/remove all ethnic minorities, should be beaten back at any cost- violently if necessary, because their views and actions are so totally abhorrent that their mere existence cannot merely be tolerated in any way.

On the other side, I have this peaceful element which thinks - people should be allowed to voice any opinions they wish, no matter how crazy - violently opposing them is just as bad, no matter how totally awful they are.

Honestly, I have no idea where I stand with it - I struggle with both sides.
 
I hate both sides, theyre all retarded, any kind of extremism.

Can't say I've ever felt compelled to go to any protest about anything, whats the point? I have better things to do like stare at the wall.
 
It would be interesting if we could have an anonymous poll - maybe the mods could add it? :)

Options could be;

- Both sides were equally to blame,
- Alt left were mostly to blame
- Alt right were mostly to blame,

I'm genuinely interested to know the spread of opinion on this,
 
The most mind boggling thing about the media coverage is that Trump is a FAR bigger supporter of Israel than Obama was so I'm not even sure how the media can associate him with Nazi's, it's not his fault that as Americans they happen to like his America first policies.
 
I guess in this case at least they were actual Nazis... in previous instances of conflict between antifa and other groups they've tended to scream Nazi and attack whoever they dislike... like say Republican students going to see Milo give a speech etc..

depends if you're including the car incident or separating that IMO... I think running over people and killing one of them is rather more serious than pepper spray and a few punches

The left and right are retarded, they are both extremes of a view point, trying to force their ideas on people. I believe center is the only logical choice since it's a balance between the two.

Ah we going to include the moment when a BLM person shoots dead 5 police officer and injuries 7 others?
 
All posters who say both sides are genuinely as bad as each other needs an urgent lesson in history IMMEDIATELY. It wasn't the left who enslaved the blacks or killed six million jews.

The right are much worse in the USA and pretty much everywhere else, full stop

The false equivalence is gross and anyone who disagrees with this is equally gross

This is coming from somebody who votes conservative

Well I never thought in my life that the majority of posters here would say that the Ku Klux Klan and actual Nazis, i.e. the side who killed a girl and injured 19 others was equally to blame as some Anti facist protestors

I'm not sure you're talking about the same demo... the thread is about the Charlottesville unrest and trump's reaction to it.

AFAIK there was one death from the car attack and two accidental deaths from a police helicopter crashing. No one shot anyone.

The Republican party was the "liberal" party back then, it is completely different to the stands they are now. Basically your argument is shooting yourself in the foot by suggesting that the Republican party gets the credit to free slaves.

The name of the party is meaningless, it is the people who does what that matters.

You may be surprised to know that both parties had progressive and conservative wings, the balance of which was completely the reverse of today back then, if you read about American history you would know that.

Today, the year is 2017 and you are saying with a straight face that the counter protesters were as bad as the far-right marchers. You are being outvoted on this view by virtually the entirety of civilized society.

Please keep posting, threads like these are basically a honeypot for those with extreme views.
