I have recently been turning my PC on over the last few days and nothing is being displayed on the monitor until the login screen pops up on windows 7. Can anyone help me as this does not seem right and annoying.

Thanks in advance

by nothing on screen until windows login screen, do you mean no bios/post splash screen or just the windows is loading screen? there is a possibilty if its just the windows is loading screen then 'no gui boot' or something might be ticked in msconfig.

It seems to take a bit longer than usual and does not display the loading before you get to the login, and also there are no signs of no signal. Im confuzzled

Hmmm I think my monitor is bad, I will try using another monitor but at the moment my dell u2311h is playing up and my buttons on the monitor have gone into some lock mode which i never done. I noticed that they were not working the other day aswell.

the only thing that does this on mine (sometimes) is when i have my tv and monitor plugged in, it will randomly decide to only show the loading on the tv, even though its not switched on, so it appears from the monitor nothing is happening until it gets to desktop (dont use logins). just a thought.

There is only one output on this so that rules that out, I think I am getting somewhere though, I might just have to reset to factory settings after unlocking the menu. I will see if this works and keep you updated, if not, back to dell it is :p

Found a fix, I think it must be a ***k up on dells behalf (Not sure how it happened as it was okay prior to this incident). The monitor was in a lock mode and was taking a period of time 'Start up' if you say. Basically I had to unlock and reset to factory settings.

This was all that had to be done apart from the rest to factory after.

says "Unlock function– Only hard unlock (Press and hold the button above power button for 10 sec)"

Or this (Which I thought was lengthy)

To unlock the monitor controls and get rid of the Lock, press and hold the monitor Menu button for about 10-15 seconds.
Buttons =
1 Preset Modes
2 Brightness/Contrast
3 Menu
4 Exit
5 Power

* Power off the PC
* Power off the monitor
* Disconnect the power cord from the monitor
* Disconnect all monitor cords from the PC (USB, DVI, VGA, DisplayPort, HDMI, etc.)
* While disconnected, press and hold the monitor power button down for 5 seconds
* Reconnect the DVI cord to the monitor and to the PC video card
* Reconnect the power cord to the monitor
* Power on the monitor if it does not power on by itself
* Power on the PC
* Press the monitor Input Source Select button and choose DVI
