Hey guys,

Got a weird problem here. When I turn my computer on the windows loading thing comes up but rather than showing my desktop when it's loaded, the screen goes black and says "no signal, check cable"

I reformatted my hdd and reinstalled windows and it worked until i installed the ati drivers  going into safe mode and uninstalling them again makes it work again, but the screen's stretched width ways cos i can't select widescreen resolutions :(

Any ideas what i could do?

Cheers,
JamFace

i had a the same problem with my new connect 3d radeon x1950xtx 256 ... you didnt say if u are using dvi or vga ??im using a toshiba 30in lcd tv which has dvi and vga....the thing was i havnt change my set up for 18 months now and ive been running a gigabyte set up... thats gigabyte case, gigabyte water cooling unit, gigabyte ga-k8nxp-sli mother board and gigabyte gv-3d1- dual 6600gtgraphics card...every thing has been running sweet until i installed supreme commander and thats when i new i needed a new graphics card to run this game thats why i bought the cheap connect 3d card...i get the blank screen when windows is loading up using dvi cable, but when i load the pc using vga lead the windows screen comes on ok...for me the problem seemed to be the toshiba tv and the connect 3d card ..u have to strech the picture to fit the hole screen and i didnt have to do this with my old gigabyte dual6600gt nvidia graphics card....i didnt use the latest ati drivers to, went back to an ealier drivers.... since im streching the picture for the toshiba tv ,ive since orderd the new samsung 22w...hope this is better with the new tv... yeah its driver issue to..if i uninstall the driver and put my old card back in nvidia card and install the drivers i works straight away using dvi cable in :) 1024 res... :)

The extra weird thing is that I've had it working fine before tho  it all went wrong after I tried to install linux on one of my hdd's... :( but i thought that reformating would've got rid of the problem...
I'm using DVI btw
Cheers for the help so far, might try and find some more drivers I could use, don't hold out too much hope tho...

ok, i tried the previous version of the official ati drivers, with the same result.

i also tried using a vga cable instead of dvi and it works with that, i can select the correct resolution and everything, still prefer to use dvi tho cos it does look better.

I've got the ccc installed too but can't seem to open it at all

I've got the same monitor plugged in with both vga and dvi atm, my thought being that i could somehow switch between the two, but in the display properties it just doesn't seem recognise that the dvi monitor is there

any ideas as to what i should try next...?

it all boils down to ati drivers .....you have the same problem that i have ,i used to use dvi cable with my 30 in toshiba tv and gigabyte nvidia card...now i have to use vga cable on the ati x1950xtx ...i think you have 2 options you can stick with the ait x1900xtx card or go for the nvidia card (8800 gts)or buy a new monitor hopeing that this vault does not happen...ive gone for the new samsung monitor 22w...it comes tomorrow will let you no if it lets me use my dvi lead and lets me select different res...ps im lucky for now that ive got a sony 32 lcd tv as well, and that lets me use the vda lead with 1024 res... :eek:thats the poor thing about ati drivers ,nvidia drivers seem to work better...

guess i'll just use the vga cable for the time being then, unless anyone knows of any decent 3rd party drivers that would get around this problem?
