Blank screen - ?PSU?

Just built my first rig and having difficulties. Here's the spec

Abit IP35
Q6600
BFG GT8800 512mb
4mb OCUK Value DDR2 RAM
Corsair HX 520W ATX2.2 Modular SLI Compliant PSU
Samsung SH-S203NBEBN 20x20 DVD±RW
Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 320GB SATA-II

Now when I connect both the 24pin ATXPWR1 power connector and the 8pin ATX12V1 as I thought you were meant to, the computer powers up for a second then automatically shuts down, and attempts to do this until I turn off power at the PSU.

When I have just the 24pin connector attached the system remains switched on however the screen remains blank.

There are no warning, error bleeps etc.

I thought I had an adequate PSU? Perhaps you have any other ideas?

First check the Motherboard's instruction manual and check exactly what power connectors you need to have in, normally you will always need both the 24 and 12 pin connectors in.

You could try unscrewing the board from the case and either testing it outside of the case or re-setting it back inside to see if it's being shorted out by the case.

There are a lot of people on this board that will be able to give you some good suggestions, I'm relatively new to this myself and have had a build do what you describe becaue it was shorting out.
