Back in 2004 (can't believe it's soooo long ago) I was looking to upgrade a PC I had built in 2000 ish and needed some help. Anyway after some fantastic help from people on here I built this:

AMD Athlon "Barton" XP 2500+ 333FSB (Socket A) CPU
DFI NFII Ultra Infinity (Socket A) motherboard
TwinMOS 512MB (2x256MB) DDR PC3200 Dual Channel Kit
Zalman CNPS7000A-Cu Ultra Quite CPU cooler
Zalman ZM400A-APF 400W PSU

I got overclocking info from members on here and have been running this system well overclocked ever since.

Now I don't really use the PC as i have a Shuttle (from Overclockers) as my daily use pc however i am looking to upgrade the old PC to run games for the kids and myself.

I am not looking for state of the art (kids are only little) just something stable and cheap. Must be able to run windows 7 64 bit.

I have two Hitatchi SATA hard disks so they should be ok and the case is still good.

Any suggestions would be very welcomed.

dare i say as little as possible ;) in reality probably a couple of hundred for the kids PC but if there are better options could go more a use it for storing and editing my photos

That would be bare minimum, the built in GPU is fairly capable but certainly not fast. If you had about £200 I'd probably get an Intel build with a dedicated GPU.

For £200 that Intel build doesn't look bad..

The 7750 is a vast improvement on the A10's built in graphics..

The Pentium is a great little chip too..

That'd be my shout.
