On a whim I purchased the new Samsung 24FG73 today after seeing it in a shop (sounds like Pee Sea Whirled). I'm 100% sold on 144hz, love it, but not sold on other things.

For example, dead pixels, how many is too many? For me, I've purchased a new product and a single one would deem this as faulty, am I being overly critical? My older Samsung 32D850 had zero and still does 3-4 years later. This has one to the far right stuck off. Not in line of sight but I know it'll bug me.

BLB/Glow, naturally the camera is over-exposing it (check out London on fire behind!) but is this what people talk about with bleed?

In addition, the other ~5mm of the screen seems to have a shadow around the edge, very subtle but it's there. It almost looks like the edge of my Galaxy S8+ where it falls away and is a fraction darker, almost like a shadow.

Are these "faults", or am I being picky?

Personally any dead pixels on a new monitor and I'd be returning it but that's maybe just me.

And yea that's backlight bleed you're seeing. Looks quite bad actually, have you had a play with the settings to try and reduce it?

I'm not sure where to start with the adjustments. Any tips what to do? I assume reduce brightness?

Well I returned the 24" panel (surprisingly no questions asked as it was PCW!) and ordered from OCUK a 27FG70.

24" was just too small, 1080p felt fuzzy. 27" 1440p is almost perfect in my opinion, super sharp and still large enough. The curve is odd though, it does make straight lines look bent, but I'm sure I'll get used to it.

The panel itself is great, all pixels work fine and the colours etc are stunning. However, BLB.... seems to be a theme these days and this isn't much better. I'm going to test for the next while and see how it affects, but it may have to go back if I can't get my mind past the bright blacks!
