My Enermax Galaxy 850w PSU has started letting out a loud bleep (it must have some sort of buzzer) and flashing its error light on the back when gaming, never in Desktop. It isn't contious and sometime it doesnt bleep at all. Everything still works fine and no stability issues. Looking at the rather poor manual, this means one of two things - 1) not enough load on the 12v rails, (not likely given my spec) manual suggests adding more CDRom/hard drives (I got 2 DVDRoms, 2 Hard disks and a 280GTX pllugged into the 12v rails) or 2) fan speed >450rpm. So I am guessing its the latter. Anyone come across this before, any way to speed up the fan (looks like it turing fine, or shutting up the buzzer permenantly (there is switch to press to temporarily silence it).

Does your gaming set up have a high extract fan ratio in a quality case - bear with me.

If your 280GTX has a high volume extract when at load it may cause air to enter the pc via the psu (slowing the fan) Wild guess I know - but easy to check by swapping a fan from extract to supply.

Give the psu a blast with a can of compress air.

Send Enermax an e-mail for more details is also worth a go.

Hey I think you may have a point ! :) ! I now realise it only started after a I upgraded from a watercooled GFX to the standard 280GTX. I have a Silverstone TJ-07 and the PSU is bottom mounted and the fan is now right next to the PSU.
