I'm really struggling with blisters on my feet at the moment. I'm playing squash fairly regularly and I'm getting to the stage where 15mins after a match i'm recovered and ready for another, but I can't because I keep getting blisters on my feet!

I went out and got some proper trainers but its still happening. Anyone got any suggestions? I'm putting vaseline on my feet but it isn't doing much good. Any special socks I can get or anything?

zinc tape is used by most military personel and the type of people that do the neimagen march to stop blisters so id say your best bet is to wrap the problem areas of your feet and see how you go

I used to suffer really bad from blisters when I was running. Couldnt run for more than 5 miles without getting bad blisters in between my toes and mainly on the bottoms of my feet.

Got some proper running socks which are dual layer, so all the friction happens between the 2 layers rather than the sock and my foot.

Have never had a blister since through running.

Dunno if this is medical or not, I dont think it is, so.....If you need to burst them to get rid of all the fluid inside, then use a sterile needle and thread. Put the needle and thread through one side of the blister and out of the other, but leave the thread hanging out from both ends. This way, the thread acts as a wick to drain the fluid out.

I picked some up today. I suffer on the balls of my feet and my big toe's, these socks seem to only pad out the ball and heel so i'll have to see how my toes go. Got a squash match at 8 so i'll report back after :p not expecting miracles though considering I already have the blisters at the moment.

soon forget the pain once i get started. Well i rubbed a bit of vaseline on my feet and tried these new socks, the blisters didn't get any worse and the slight heeling that occured over night is still present. Seems like £5 well spent ;)

I used to get blisters on my heals due to marching. I never poped them on purpose and just let them get on with whatever it is they due. Eventually I built a callus there and dont get blisters any more.

Make sure you are wearing two pairs of socks. The first one should be polypropelyne (sp) socks and the second should be cotton. The moisture will go straight through the first later, away from your feet, and into the cotton sock. Also the rubbing with be between the first and second layer rather then the first layer and your skin.

I know its reselecting an old thread here, but I've just started playing squash and the blisters on the bottom of my big toes are very painful. I think I've lost 3mm of skin off one of my toes when the blister burst in my shoe.

I've had a look in some sports shops but all they seem to sell are regular "sports" socks, non of these double layer socks or the polypropylene ones that Stiff_Cookie mentioned. To be honest the sports shops just seem to cater for chav fashion :(

I don't think it would be against the rules to ask for some online links to places selling socks would it? are there any real sports shops out there?

I got my running socks instore at JJB. When I first made this thread I was only starting out playing serious squash, and over time my feet have hardened off and I dont suffer from blisters anymore. I just make sure I either wear my running socks, or two pairs of normal socks. Although towards the end of the week I start to run out of decent white socks to wear (play 3/4 times a week), need xmas to roll round :p

JJB, the only shop I didn't try! I won't be playing this week until I recover so I'll go have a look and compare them to the ones from the link.

Cheers guys for the fast reply

No worries. I'd do what I did and follow the advice on here. I put a little vaseline on your feet for the first few weeks of wearing the socks, and when getting home after the game i'd leave my shoes and socks off for an hour. Eventually your feet will harden off :)
