Hey guys, my mother is looking around for a lappy in the £400 range and has settled (it appears at the moment) on an Asus X58LE...which on paper looks a reasonable spec for her uses: Office, Internet etc. (I haven't found any reviews beyond the generic sales pitch)

One question though, is it possible to buy a lappy these days with just the Window OS disc (NOT a rescue disc or the like), the main drivers and without all the bloatware that comes pre-installed on most systems...she is quite fussy about the last and I suggested she goes £60 under budget, buy the OS disc and do a new install of Windows instead.

Tarby in advance :D

unfortunately not, your best bet when you get it is just to spend 15 minutes uninstalling unessential apps, or disable them from running them at startup.

Most Dells come with Windows discs and driver discs (although it's advisable to get the latest versions from the website instead). Means you can do a fully clean install, which makes a signifcant difference to performance.
