I dont need a very techincal solution and in the past I have just added certain sites to the .hosts file but for some reason Win7 64 home premium doesnt block sites in the .hosts file anymore?

Is there another way to block sites? I think I remeber seeing a while ago that you could do it via opendns?

Any other alternatives?

Thanks

OpenDNS is a good solution that is free too! You can block by category and/or specific domains. Generally works pretty well

The hosts file should still work, how are you editing it? Win 7 only lets you change it using Notepad run as an administrator, everything else will look like it's edited the file but the changes aren't saved.

I am just editing it with notepad by selecting it from the list, I am logged in as the administrator and when I reopen the file the changes are still there that I made.

I am using the host file located C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc Is that the correct address?

Yes, that is the correct file.
