I dunno what it is? i thought block paving was just layed on a level surface with hardcore etc underneath.. then just brushed over with sand?

In theory, block paving shouldn't need sealing as the blocks are so close to each other, having been laid on a sand base. The previous post is correct that sand is just brushed over them to finish the job. You may get the occasional weed growing in the joints, but these can be easily pulled out as the roots will be shallow. Any persistant ones can be sprayed with weed killer.

thanks. post was for my grandma and grandad who are having their drive paved and whated to know about this block paving stuff
