ok here is the situation:

My son is on a dual boot system: win98 [for old games] & XP [for everything else]. I have just purchased some internet filtering software but this will only work on his XP partition.

What (preferably reversable) methods can I use to ensure his win98 OS will not be able to access the internet?

[oops probably wrong forum doh]

Have you tried playing old games on xp using the compatibility wizard?

Yeah. Some work some don't.
Dungeon Keeper2 was a swine under XP -pretty much the only reason we have a dual boot on his pc in the first place. Was thinking about going back to dual boot on mine too cos it's such a cool game. This is one reason why I'd like to be able to reverse whatever I do to his win98 so if I ever go back to dual boot on my pc we will be able to play vs each other on win98 without the random crashes/lockups we'd get on XP :D

ps. hmm..when you say "wizard" you do mean where you right-click on a shortcut and/or .exe file & go into properties?

Thanks for all the suggestions so far. I will have a play around with it after work tonight while the nipper is doing his homework in the kitchen :)

I will try your suggestion Trigger. If I can find this file 'hosts' do I just add the entry * localhost to whats already there or delete everything else 1st?

heh well his internet connection is down completely at the moment -had to uninstall the trial version of ContectProtect before I could upgrade it to the latest full version & it has fubar'd his network connection completely. Mind you, he'd already screwed up both versions of windows by never shutting the pc down properly & installing stuff designed only for win 95 etc so I just blamed him lol.
Got to get him back online asap though cos the missus keeps letting him use her logon on my pc

Will do a full reformat & reinstall at the weekend and then take it from there :)
