I've have started the free trial and added my titles, they are now in my list.. but how do I actually order them, I can't find any other links for this or help on their site which explains this. I'm sure there must be loads of ppl using the service, can any vets help me out? :)

If they're anything like Tesco, they just send you random ones off your list, you can't pick which ones specifically.

that's right. But you need a load in your list so they can send you the ones at the bottom first while you wait 6 months for the new ones :D Just complete your list (i think you need 20/30 at least or they will send you emails saying that nothing is available on your list can you please add some more) and they will select what is available in the order you have prioritised them and send out what they have. THey email you when they send them out.

it's a nice little earner for them, you get the ones off your list which is handy and every so often you get a brand new one as a titbit and then when you want to watch a specific film on a specific night you still have to go and get them from the shop. Decent service though, quick turnaround.

Thanks matey :)

I had blockbuster and they never sent me DVD's from the top of the list (highest prioitised), they sent DVDs from the bottom of the list...

any other good alternatives to blockbuster? I wanna do this whole dvd rental thingy but cant decide which company to go with

I still don't understand why Blockbuster haven't teamed up with like Pizza Hut or something and done pizza and a film to your door or something

You'll find the service during your trial is very quick too, fast turn around, you can get 6 - 7 DVDs a week sometimes. After the trial and they're getting money out of you it's a different matter, you'll get all the gash from the bottom of the list and the arrival of your next film will be somewhat slower too.

Screenselect is good because you can set your films to high, normal and low priority... so films you don't really care about, put them on low priority and you'll maybe get those in a few months, but high priority films (even new ones) i tend to get very quickly. :)

you can do that with all the company's.

interesting that you guys have had the same experiences as me with blockbuster.

I've had two trys with them but i've cancelled for now.

I did try tescos and they were even worse, the trouble is i get in the mood for a certain type of movie and i end up with something else.

i thought tesco used screen select, but it might have been video island, there doesnt appear to be that many distributors just lost of agents.

I think the way it really works is: you pay £14 a month, thats 4 decent movies and the rest are dross. So your first three might be good and the rest rubbish.

I've been using Blockbusters for nearly a year and have had no problems with them. Yes, you do have the problem with getting some of the older films first, but that's the same with going to a normal video hire shop - the more popular ones are rented first.

But the good thing with Blockbusters online is that they sometimes have films that the shops don't have - have managed to rent some films I hadn't seen in ages.

Have had no problem with turnover. As soon as I get the email saying they've received the old one, within a couple of hours I get an email saying the next ones have been sent.

And everyone else has said, keep your list long. Look for those little treasures you haven't seen in ages (like The Goonies !!!! LOL).

Only reason I'm cancelling is due to money but as soon as I'm sorted, I'll go back with them.

I was thinking of this but I always thought that you could add them to a list and you'll get them in the order of your list?

Random ones isn't what I want at all - does anyone know of a company that can do this?

YOu can put the list into an order of which ones you want first. But it depends on whether they have them available.

I used the blockbuster one for a while, but I switched to Lovefilm and its soo much better. You get the ones high in your list much more often, if you have more than 2 films in your list, then they always seem to send out first class a new film the same day they receive one back, and they have now introduced a download service too (although theres not much on it yet). They also have a fasttrack system where if a film on your list is available, you can reserve it as your next rental (you can do this 4 times a month), and they sometimes let you buy the films you have out to keep for about £2.

Screenselect are the people behind the Tesco one, they arent too bad but cancel the trial a week early unless you want to pay. Most you could get is 3 a week, 1 at a time but usually you get 2 in and thats receiving, watching and returning it on the same day
