Rented a film from blockbuster on sunday night, £3.95 for 2 nights, sorted.

Went today and dropped it back and to get another, now its 3.95 for 1 night!!! they justified it because they were running out of new films and people couldnt get them, well thats not the customers fault thats there fault for not having enough stock!!

but they are running a deal with 2 dvd's for 2 nights for 6 quid.

surely they should drop the price to 3.50 for 1 dvd for 1 night or something

why rent. I rarely pay more than £5 for a dvd, Ok you can't get new ones, but because I buy, I'm so far behind I just get old new ones I haven't seen. IMO renting is the biggest con ever unless it was like £1 for a week.

use online renting services if you rent often.

Otherwise it's probably works out cheaper to buy the DVD, watch it and then sell it on Ebay. I did that once and actually doubled my money !

Online rental services I expect have probably hit Blockbuster hard.

Blockbuster have their own online rental service, so I doubt it has affected them too much.
For someone who watches a lot of movies, online rental is definately cheaper than buying.

The days for retail rental must really be numbered. In Scotland there used to be a chain called Global Video, had more shops than Blockbuster up here, recently went into liquidation. Other regional retailers have spread out into tanning and beauty salons. As someone has said, why rent when you can buy most of the films for less than £10.

They were late entering the game though, hence Lovefilm/Screenselect control the online UK market.

Blockbusters round here have finally just started gettting 360 games in to rent. But they're charging just under £5 for 2 nights!

£5 for a game, just under £4 for a film it's too expensive now. I'd rather use an online service and wait.
