Parked in a legal parking space and someone has parked behind me on the other side of the road on double yellows. As a result I can't get out the space.

I've tried finding the owner of the illegal car, plus the two cars either side of me so I have more room to manoeuvre out but no luck. I've called the council's parking services who passed on the message to one of their teams 45 minutes ago.

I've been stood by my car for an hour and I need to get back to work.

What else can I do?!

Do some Sudoku.

(you'll just have to wait it out until the moron driver returns, or the council tows it)

Maybe police non-emergency number? They might be able to move it quicker.

Find a local rugby team and tell them you've got a couple of crates of beer in the boot if they wouldn't mind giving it a shove out the way.

I'd get in your car and hold down the horn and hope you get the owners attention, could you also rock his car to set the alarm off? Maybe they'll hear it and come out to investigate?

Call work and see if a colleague can come and get you? (Unless you need your vehicle for work obv) you could be stood there all day the speed that councils move!

You can't get it out of there? Really?! I thought you meant someone had parked 2 feet behind you or something.

You could get a bus out of there! :p

in fairness it is kinda tight because of the cars either side, if there anyone you could ask to help direct you out? a shop nearby maybe? Failing that plenty of dry steering!

Got any blankets or coats in the boot? Wedge them into your front bumper, then gently push the car out of the way, making sure the blankets are the only thing making contact with the other car. Shouldn't do any damage if you're careful - I've done it several times to bump start cars with flat batteries.

Edit: Just seen the pics, looks pretty easy to me?

One reason why I away's reverse into parking spaces, getting out is a lot easier. Looks like there is enough room, is there no one about who can watch you out?

Photos are deceptive. I'm touching his wheel arch before I've cleared the front of mine, and no room to turn with the space either side. Tried multiple times and had someone see me back.

Turning obviously lengthens mine my car respectively as well.

I live in a city with a medium/big car so if it could get out I could, trust me :p.
