Hello
Im EXTEREMELY ****** off as microsoft wants me to purchased a completely brand new windows code because my code has been blocked because it has been entered too mant times I was trying to explain to them that Ive been having issues with my pc and I had to do a few fresh installs and also i got an ssd and I moved my system onto that and stuff like that but they cant do anything about it... !!!!!!

I really dont know what to do as I would have never even though about something like that happening,I purchased my code on ebay for around 50 pounds (purchased it in November last year) because it was cheaper and now they make me want to buy a complete new one !!

They are litteraly taking the utter ****....

I really dont want to buy a code just so I could properly use my computer again as its been working completely fine I even had it on the ssd and the hard drive and when the one on my ssd got blocked when I did a fresh install the one on the hard drive was perfectly fine but I cant use the one on my hard drive as it been formated .
Hope this makes sense...

Is there anything that I can do to make it work again ??!
Thanks

you say you purchased your "Code" on ebay? Did they send you an OEM Licence or retail kit? Or did they just email you a code and you used it and it worked? Sounds to me like someone has got hold of an enterprise/maps/msdn key and has been selling them. Now MS have realised and blocked the use of that code. If this is the case and you do not have the sticker/coa then your licence wasn't legit and you have no leg to stand on but maybe go back to the seller/ebay.

There are usually reasons why things are cheaper on ebay... They are stolen, counterfeit, broken etc etc etc

The person just sent it through a message so I dont know....

If its a legit key cant you do the manual phone activation? Its a Freephone number and its a pain to key all the digits in but they've reactivated mine loads of times.

I got it when it was on offer for £25

That would have been for windows 8, and since this is from eBay it's likely that the seller is giving out the same key to everyone who purchases it and MS have finally cottoned on and blocked the key from being used for any further activations (the phone activation process is likely to end in a computer says no response if that is correct), with any other computers that are using the key likely to start getting not genuine messages soon (or already have).

The automated activation used to put you through to a human after a while/buttons were pressed/etc. You've got more chance if you speak to a human, though they will likely just repeat what's been said here - that your license is likely invalid as the seller was just reselling the same key over and over.

As the saying goes, if it's too good to be true...

Yup it looks like you have been done. Sounds like a Enterprise/Mulp/Maps key. The reason why it would have worked for a while was because it would have not been blacklisted yet. I guess this scumbag on ebay has sold the same code over and over, made a packet and probably done one with a decent amount of cash. Unfortunately its not MS problem and you will have to buy a new key (Legit) if its standard windows 8.1 (Not Pro) OCUK Sell it for about £75.. and Pro a fair bit more.

But how would that make a difference ?! A 'GENUINE' windows key is a genuine windows key...
and when i called up microsoft today the woman on the phone didnt say anything about it not being genuine she just said that i used it too many times???

There's a reason why it was cheaper than proper resellers like OCuk...

She wouldn't know any different though, would she? You could have used it among family members or friends or colleagues. All she knows is that the key has been used many times over, and likely far, far more times than you've used in your installations.

It is (was) a genuine key, but that ceased to be the case when it was activated probably a few dozen times over the course a few months.

Where's your licence showing it's genuine. Oh it's in an email.
Chances are you are sharing your key with a few other people

I got my copy of Windows 8 from Microsoft. I downloaded it and received my key via email. I don't have a COA as I chose the download option. Dosent mean my copy isn't genuine.

As I said before I have had to ring the activation line and go thru the automated activation process as it wouldn't do it automatically but each time its reactivated just fine :)

I got my key via Microsoft too, however big difference between Microsoft and Ebay, the latter being a lot more risky for obvious reasons.

I bought a key off eBay a while ago and so far so good, seller even sent me the COA sticker in the post which I wasn't expecting :)

Fingers firmly in the the crossed position!

EVERYONE !! I basiclly got scammed, it was a MSDN key , I now was on the chat with microsoft and the person told me to contact ebay and request a refund .
