Hello All, :)

Please can someone help out with this query>>

One of my kids is spending far too much time on a particular website and I'd like to find a way of allowing access to that website for 1 hour a day and longer at weekends.

I run a home network with several PC behind a Linksys WAG354G router. The router does allows me to block URL's or keywords, but not at certain times of the day. (sorta all or nothing).

The kids computer runs Cybersitter v9, which again has the option to with block URL or allow Internet access at certain times of the day.

I just would like a way of allowing access to this website for 1 hour a day.... Can anyone recommend a software or a way of achieving this?

PS - My router will allow me to block this website to specific computers via IP, therefore I could block blanket access via all other machines, just need a way to allow her machine to only access the site for 1 hour per day.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the reply s thus far... I was looking for something a little more straight forward.

At the moment, I have the website blocked on all PC's except the kids in the Router via MAC Addresses.

and

On the kids PC I have Cybersitter allowing 1 hour internet access per day during the week and longer at weekends.

But

The ideal woould be to limit access to the website via any PC for a specific 1 hour time slot each day!!

So any more ideas welcomed??? :)

I assume you have talked to your kids about their internet usage, instead of just trying to block access?

If they are watching too much TV you don't put a meter on the TV so that they can only watch it for 1 hour. You talk to them. If they watch too much and don't listen it gets turned off.

This would be my approach any way, if they spend too much time on what ever website that you have told them not to then remove all internet for a few days. They soon learn.

But to answer the original question, I don't know of any software to do this.

I totally agree, and they do listen when I am there and tell them and they do get a few days ban when they don't toe the line. Its just that mums the weak link , so need something in place when I am at work and not there :p
