Hi,

I'm wondering if it is possible to Block a MAC address between certain hours?
Reason being my little sister has recently acquired a Laptop (she also has an iPod Touch), but we don't want her to either after 10PM at night...

We are using a fairly basic Netgear DG834G Router.

Any help is appreciated.

Not really. You can block 0-65535 tcp/udp outbound by schedule but that's only outbound and only tcp/udp, not sure how well. You should really look at a more advanced router or anything running tomato, its access restriction is the best you're going to find really.

Does your wireless setting not have an access list? - you could always manually blacklist her MAC that way . Although doing that each night would be a pain.

Yeah it does, but as you say, I don't want to be doing that every night!
I was hoping for something automated.

I highly recomment something that can run tomato. With tomato you can block access to one ore more computers, block just wireless access or the whole internet access, choose specific start/stop times for the block as well as which days of the week (so you can just block school nights if you want). You can even decide to block specific ports, domain names, even specific files such as any .swf flash file from being downloading.

what if your daughters some kind of super hacker and just spoofs her mac with 'ifconfig <interface> hw <class> <address>' thats the question you have to ask yourself.

Static DHCP and block the specific IP during the certain times, and all unrecognized IPs 24/7
