Blocky/Low Res Icons in start menu

This is what my start menu is looking like. If you look at the icon's some of them are degraded, and low res.

They never used to be like this, and changing the IconPackager theme doesn't make the problem go away.

I've tried rebuilding my icon cache, but that doesn't solve it either.

Anyone know what causes this?

All my icons in explorer etc are fine...
 
I think you will find the problem is to do with the way windows draws the icons when there size is under the size you want I.e icons draws in a square of 32x32 will be blocky but icons drawn in 64x64 wont.

could also be to do with the dark background some icons transparency dont like it.

Not sure what would cause it but might be time to recreate your Windows profile, or at least create and login as a different user to see if the problem persists.
 
The problem has only appeared recently, and it was the same one other visual styles I've used.

I will create another user though to see if the problem is the same on that.
