I absolutely hate these things!

Since installing my second SMP client I have been plagued with them. I am not sure if my horrible 1k+ PPD drop is due to having two clients or because of these things.

I think I might just go back to one client :(

Anyone else had loads of these?

I had the 1 that EUE'ed at 95% and gave me no points.:(

I was running 2 SMP clients at the time so it was a days work.:(

Gone back to 1 SMP client now.

Your PPD drop is due to the fact that these are VERY cache hungry WUs (remember the SMP benchmark has 8MB L2 Cache). It will be further exacerbated by running 2 clients on a machine that is not designed to do so.

Still better that 2 standard clients crunching the 34** series WU - got home yesterday to the delight of a combined 409ppd.

@UF - is cashe also the reason why the the Q6*00 crunch the 2610 so much better than the E6*00's

had a run of these - bloody annoying that both cores (standard client) going full belt for 24 hours for a total of 400 points!!

Hopefully get my dad's P4 running tonight 24/7 as he is away for 8 weeks!!! Wooo :)

New question for you fungus

Do you know how to add the -forceasm flag to clients installed by finstall?

As far as I understand it the "folding" script found in the foldingathome folder calls the FaH script in the clients work folder. Not sure what the boot up script does, I assume it calls the FaH script directly. So not really sure how to add flags to the operation!

I ask because I lost several hours the other day when an iffy shutdown caused my client to fold with standard loops.

Sirius, cd to foldingathome then open fah_config. Add the flags between the quotes in the file.

gedit ~/foldingathome/fah_config

Mine currently says:
FAH_flgs"-forceasm -oneunit"

It asks for, receives, crunches, uploads, then stops. It doesn't download a new WU. It's handy iif you're going to reinstall or change clients or some'at.

You mean "summat" surely? :D

Silly Yank! :p ;)

Thanks for the tip, will give that a go in the morning.

Round my way summat is just slang for something. Not "something like that".

So to take your own post for example

"It's handy iif you're going to reinstall or change clients or some'at."

would be

"It's handy iif you're going to reinstall or change clients or summat like that."

Equally valid would just be

"It's handy iif you're going to reinstall or change clients or summat."

God you can tell I have nowt better to do!

Copy and paste of his post. Wasn't even looking at the other words. Plus it was late and I did have a few Laphroaigs in me :o
