Bloody Asus.

I brought a Asus Eee PC 1080HA around Feb 2009. Fast forward a couple of months, the LCD dies and shows multicoloured lines everywhere, consistent with LCD failure. It is replaced under warranty. About a month ago, the screen hinge starts becoming loose and a week later the same problem comes back with the LCD and I diagnose it as a cable failure and send I it off to Asus. Today, an email from the outsourced service company arrives and it says the netbook received physical damage from the user. WTH? The person who fixed it last time probably broke the bloody machine and they want £46 for a LCD cover replacement.

Not a good day at all.

Well I've had trouble with their motherboards in the past but I've never owned any of their netbooks or laptops.

It does sound like when the screen was replaced it could have been bodged which then lead the the LCD cable failing... You may just have to take it in the chin and just avoid Asus in the future... :(
