Anyone had this issue and managed to get around it?

I'm using quickpwn for 2.2 and for the second time in as many months I get as far as quickpwn is about to run on your iPhone 3G

As I said this is the second time I've tried running it with it being downloaded separately both times. The last time I just pulled the plug after waiting 40 odd minutes and had a mare getting the thing working again

I'm trying to do it on my MBP with 10.5.6.

Any ideas?

I had a problem the first time I tried.

I just wasn't pressing and holding and letting go of the buttons as fast as it was telling me to.

When I got that sussed out it worked fine, on 2.2 and now on 2.2.1

I've done 20+ iphones and never had a problem.

Maybe your doing something wrong.

Try and follow a guide from the internet, you cannot really fail.

Also try another computer and make sure you using the correct quickpwn for your operating system.

I can only think it is a problem with my Mac, problem I've got though is I tried downloading the Windows version but the whole setup is different as in it asks you for a restore point/firmware bundle but I dont use my main rig as the PC that the iPhone predominately sync's from so dont have these points (not on 2. firmware anyway)

The problem lies with a DFU access issue with 10.5.6. If you have a cheap USB hub laying around will counter-act this problem if your wanting to jailbreak using your mac. If you don't, your only choice is to go on to Windows or see if you know anyone who has a mac that is not running 10.5.6.

Is the DFU not that part that asks you to hold down the off and home buttons simultaneously? Not saying it's not a problem as I too have read about issues regarding DFU and 10.5.6 but it does get beyond that point in the process

Yes, that is the part when it asks you to hold down the buttons together. It might actually think it is in DFU mode when in actual fact it isn't. Strange that it is getting past that point but will get no further.

The only other piece of advice that I can offer you is to try using the Pwnagetool. I have various successes with both pieces of software but feel more comfortable when using pwnagetool as you have more control of what you want to do to the device.

(A little off topic)I tried endlessly on a friend's iPhone to unlock it and it just wouldn't play ball, until I realised I must have been suffering from the DFU bug as he said it worked perfectly fine when he got it home and used QuickPwn for Windows.

Good luck buddy.

It is most likely as described above. I JB'd a colleagues phone at work and it kept failing at the DFU stage. 2hrs later I reallised it was because this pos NEC Powermate pc has usb 1.1 ports so the DFU bit looked like it was happening but it wasn't.
