Bloody Updates!!

Is it just me or does anyone else get god knows how many bloody updates every time im on my pc? It's doing my head in!! Might just turn the things off and do a big update once every month or something
 
If I do get an update, which I don't that regularly as I try and keep up to date (the entire point of it) it updates on Shutdown. I shutdown and walk away from the computer. Sometimes when I turn on it completes the update but it's not like it's a massive problem or time sink.

Most updates are automatic and the rest let you there is a new one. Not something that disrupts day to day working.

You'll only get daily updates if you're using Windows Defender (Windows 8/8.1) and don't have automatic updates turned on. As I remember I think Security Essentials installs irrespective of what the Windows Update settings are.

It's the virus definitions.
 
As TheVoice says, updates are released every 2nd Tuesday of a month (there are the odd ones released out-of-sequence but they're rare).

I can only imagine you're not restarting your computer (rather putting it to sleep or hibernating it) to allow the update installations to complete, so they're constantly nagging you to do so.
