Ok, I'm a bit hungover but I'm trying to get Windows filesharing working between 3 computers...

Computer A - old ass p3 with 10gb HD running XP pro
Computer B - lovely Athlon 2600+ with 100gb HD running XP pro
Computer C - wierd thing with USB 1.1, running from a bartpe XP livecd, and I'm trying backup the 30gb hard drive from this computer on to computer B

Now, I've managed to get filesharing working between computer A and computer C, but when I try and access computer B from computer C, it shows a username/password prompt, I try various things (Administrator, etc.) but it won't connect.

How do I log on? Is there some way to set computer B so anyone can log on? I've turned off all firewalls, and I have admin accounts on all machines.

Have you got the correct WORKGROUP name on all computers?

Can computer A communicate with B?

Yep, the workgroup is the same on all computers, and "net view" shows all the computers on the network.

Everything can communicate with A. :) Also, A and B on on to each others shared folders...

Not sure if this is what they meant, but try right clicking on the drive or folder and then go to properties and the sharing tab where you will be able to set the drive to be shared.

I think your issue could be related to the version of XP you have running on computer C, is it some sort of special version?

Why don't you just copy your files from C to A and then to B?
