I had set up an overclocked bundle 4.20GHz with a cherry picked by rjk back in 2008 (even a crazy cherry chip was clocked 4.20GHz at just 1.264v on full load)

It been stable over 35 hours and was stable over the years with no BSD. The bundle I had set up with the corsair memory ram (triple channels) and mega air cooler with temp of no more than 75C.

Vcore set at the bios 1.325v
Idle at windows 1.296v
Full load prime95 1.264v

Many thanks to rjk for excellent cherry chip and I did push it to 4.5GHz at 1.35v under load. Will be excellent with custom water cooling as it might do 4.7GHz possible.

Wow that's amazing. Do you mind sharing your BIOS settings?

I'm on an i7 920 too. 4.2GHz at 1.39v... watercooled. It's ridiculous how hard this chip is to overclock. I have the same stepping and revision as you, so I'm very interested how you achieved this OC!

Most i ever managed on mine.

Vcore in bios of 1.3125, load iirc was 1.296 or thereabouts. Cooling at the time was a supermega.

Sat at 4.2Ghz 950 under water @1.3v, doing it's job fine and keeping cool, upgrading fans and will hopefully try get 4.6 stable :D looks like I may also have a nice chip ;)

Yeah 45nm is quite strong chip but I do feel ivybridge 22nm won't last forever (probably less than 3 years due to heat problem) Bloomfield and q6600 are very good cpu, quite strong! I sold my q6600 to my friend Tim, and he still using it, I think q6600 is probably 8 years old now whille my bloomfield i7 920 D0 is 4 years old except my sandybridge is less than 12 months at the moment.

I started buying Q6600s in 2007, its about 5yrs old, bought my first batch of 920s in very late 08 to early 09 so its not quite 4 years yet as i tend to buy within a week or two of launch as i get a few orders in pre launch, sometimes when something is big (core 2 duo for example) i'll get my mitts on an ES and mess about before launch.
