Not played Black ops in a long time, and i heard there was some new DLC packs so i looked on Steam to see there are 3 sets of DLC priced at £11.49 each.

Seriusly why do people keep paying these prices for DLC?..no wonder the bloody game companies keep on charging too much for DLC.

Total ripoff.

Okay rant over. :D

Agree. I only bought the New Vegas DLC 'cause it was on sale for like 2.50 and it's actually a decent size. 11.49 for five maps is ridiculous.

@ ins0mn1ac,So dont you agree that the pricing of DLC these days are too high?

3x £11.49 =£34.47

Mentioning BLOPS around here though is like cause for riot. It was a rip-off to buy, it still is a rip-off, and guess what! the DLC is a crazy rip-off.

I originally bought BLOPS but I'd never entertain paying the price of the DLCs, by the time they are affordable there will be nobody online.
They've done themselves out of a fair few customers I'd imagine, not just moi.

I bought BLOPS and thought it was good. I hadn't played it for ages as I'd been busy with BC2 and CS:S.

I went back to it for about a month and then stopped. Wow, that game is terrible. I've never bought any map packs for MW2 or BLOPs. The prices are just outrageus. For a few maps I could buy a few entire indie games that would give me so much more entertainment.

Surely it depends on what the DLC is. If it contains £11.49 of content then no. If its just a couple of maps then its hard to justify such a price.

I seldom buy a whole game for more than that now anyway

I would never pay £12 for a few maps.

Indeed.

They know its a Rip-off as you can by a whole top end game for that & the development cost of those maps is nothing in comparison to the development cost of the game, but people do buy them so its money for old rope & they are laughing with mega profit margin.

They won't be getting my cash again until they make a new engine and go a new direction with Call of Duty. It's just a stale horrible cash cow now.

anyone remember when maps came in patches to keep people interested in the game and not to bleed you dry?
Good times...

I reckon if you play it a lot then 12 is probably a decent deal for the amount of play, plus they're probably close to mandatory to play online anyway. Why they don't just play TF2 or Battlefield though I have no idea.

For myself I just got Honest Hearts and Old World Blues for £7.50. 15 hours of content for that seems pretty reasonable.

World at war DLC was free on pc why not make free now? They charge £39.99 for game and then over £45.96 for 4 dlc packs?

So its clearly not development costs they need to cover I'm not buying this crap

OK it's me, I bought the map packs for Black-Ops.

At the moment i'm really into CoD again and am playin a few hours a day, although they are expensive for what they are, I feel I get my money's worth.

As for playing TF2 and BC2, I've never ever liked TF2 and after recently trying to get back into BC2 I came to my own conclusion that it's cack.

I bought all the maps too, I play the game online everyday for 2 or 3 hours, if I didn't play it much I wouldn't have bothered, cant really blame them for charging what people will pay.

How did you get them that cheap?, there about £5.50 each for me on Steam (still a good price though, £28 for NV and all its DLC thats currently out)

Edit: Oh they've dropped price again :D, glad I didn't buy it 2 days ago

It's not a rip off if you enjoy it and will get a lot of hours out of those maps.

Not for me personally but it's clearly working for them so what's the issue

Its not as simple as that because for everything to work smoothly in a social aspect everyone really has to have all the maps & the dev & publishers know that..

I don't play BLOPs much at all but a friend was hounding me to join in one day & i kept getting disconnected & about half an hour later of trying he asked me if i had the map packs. The game does not even tell you that your trying to join a friend on a server with maps that you don't have.

So that popping on for a quick casual bash with friends is out of the window unless we all have them & i would not be playing it long enough to get my moneys worth.
