Blow hole worth it? Guardian 921

I have a NZXT Guardian 921 case which I'm very pleased with, but I'm thinking of overclocking my CPU (Q6600) and my temperatures are already idling (highest core temp) at 50C. I know the Guardian isn't the best case for cooling but since I've had it only mere months I'm not willing to exchange it for another so soon.
What I've been thinking about is cutting a blow hole in the top of the case. There is room for at least a 92mm fan, if not a 120mm one and I wondered if anyone with experience could tell me what their experiences were doing this. Did you see a marked improvement? Was the task difficult to accomplish?

I've been looking around trying to find information on people's experiences and I came across this fan guard: http://www.mnpctech.3dpixelnet.com/images/pics/WoW9z3zz.jpg
Ignore the case etc, but I was wondering if anywhere in the UK sells these kinds of fan guards because all I seem to be finding are either very simple grill-like fan guards, or flat metal ones with various designs. If need be I'll opt for them but if I can find something similar to this picture it would be much preferred... I've checked the website address listed on the image and I couldn't see them listing it anymore.

I may also look into CPU coolers but with the limited space inside my case I'd rather attempt this option first.
Thanks for reading.

Unfortunately everywhere that i now of that sells them have them showing as out of stock. They cost around £14 each but do look good.

How about starting from opening actual "12cm" hole for back exhaust fan?
Low impedance hole in top would probably create only short airflow loop from side intake instead of increasing airflow through whole case.

And stock heatsinks aren't that great and heatsink installation might not be good. (and/or heatspreader concave)

There is an exhaust fan out the back, 120mm, on top of two intake fans, one on the side and one in the front both 120mm. I had thought of readjusting the heatsink but if it's fine to begin with I could just end up making it worse lol.
