Backbox is blowing quite badly......after parking it on the pavement lastnight and crawling underneath, I realised it was actually not the backbox causing it to blow.

Yes it is rusty, but no holes.

The pipe from the backbox, to the one that leads to the mid section is heavily rusted.....just pick the rust away.

Can I use that exhaust tape to wrap around the join just to get it through it's mot?

Why don't you just get the centre section replaced? they're not expensive.

The CAT live in the centre section? The center section is not the problem, it's the join between that pipe and the back boxes pipe.

Cat could be in the downpipe on your VTR IIRC.

Higher flow rate I assume. Although to see any real difference you'd need to do the whole system.

And i do not want it to sound chavvy.

My mate has just had a sportex backbox (4") on his clio and I hate it.

Driving along all you hear is a constant deep humming noise.

Sucks :D

think i saw someone here do it with exhaust gum and an old tin of baked beans :p

They do a GunGum repair kit that comes with a metal wrap thing and a couple of jubilee clips too. Sorted out my old Orion for an MOT once, didn't last very long though
