Hi guys

My dad is after a new system, his requirements:

* Simple to use
* Wireless Speakers
* Blu-ray/DVD/CD player built in
* 2.1, or 5.1- both considered
* Small

He's been looking at a particular Bose system for around £700 (apologies I can't remember the model) which is 2.1, but doesn't have any blu-ray support. Seems a shame to have to buy a blu-ray player on top of this... and would nice to have a stylish all in one system.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

some things to consider

Step 1) buy some Hi Fi magazines. What TV + Hi FI is a half decent place to start. Head over to WH Smiths and there are a few others too. Buy one of each to get a better idea of what to buy other than BOSE crap. Why is it crap ? its overpriced junk that they charge a 200 % premium on just because its bose. You can buy a £400 all in one blu ray system from sony that would sound as good.

step 2) do you really want an all in one system. What happens when a new audo standard is released, or bluray players get new features ? you have to replace the whole lot. Buy separates and you can chop and change components as / when they get outdated.

All in one systems are good for the budget end of the market, Sub £400

if you've got £700 to spend, you could buy a decent 5.1 speaker set and receiver for that. Just need a bluray player. So not cheaper, but 5.1, better sounding, and more flexible in the long run.

If your dad winces at the thought of spending £1000 and wont spend a penny more than £700, tell him to save his money and get a 5.1 bluray system all in one box for from sony/samsung etc.. for half the price.

Well he wont be getting wireless speakers.

There are very few 'wireless' kits on the market, and those that are often have more cables and plugs than the standard kits!
