Blu ray and 4K compatible?

Has anyone tried a 4K blu ray on a HDMI blu ray player?
I've read it's not compatible but is that a definite?
Or would I need a PS5 to play it?

If you put a 4K UHD in a regular 1080p BD player it won't play.

You'd need a UHD player, like the Panasonic 820. And ideally a 4K HDR TV otherwise you won't be getting full advtange of it.
