Blu-ray images freeze on HP laptop

I have a HP DV5 laptop, (AMD turion X2 processor, 3gb RAM, ATI 3850 dedicated gfx), it has a blu ray player and i've put a couple of blu ray images onto the hard drive and use VLC media player to play them, now recently every film i try to watch freezes every couple of seconds constantly and i've no idea why, i don't know if i'll get much response in this section though, but anyone any ideas as the hardware should easily manage?

just tried GOM player, the pic is better but sound stutters

Use the CoreAVC Codec, it's good for laptops and low end systems but also for every other user.

i've downloaded the demo of this, but how do i use it, what program do i use to play the file?
